About me

narla dean | somatic and relational therapist

Hi, I'm Narla.

I’m a counsellor, writer, lover and artist, a woman devoted to weaving a world where connection runs deep, with all people, with nature, and with life itself.

My life and work is rooted in relationship: to the body, to emotion, to the sacred, to the stories we carry, and the ones we’re still writing. I support people through grief, intimacy, transition, transformation, and all the tender, messy, and beautiful terrain of being human.

My own way of relating is alternative and ever-changing, shaped by the different phases and intentions of my life. I believe in breaking down the social constructs that confine us and our connections, and in creating relationships that are aligned with who I am in each moment. I choose connections that support, challenge, and love me into growth, that nourish my joy, feed my soul, and help me to thrive.

I’m queer by nature, pansexual, fluid, and aroused by aliveness itself. By sensation, connection, honesty, and beauty. I find eros in the wind through the trees, in a lingering glance, in great music, in moments of truth, and in the depth of conversation. My sexuality, like my work, is a living, breathing force, grounded in reverence, curiosity, and feels free to explore beyond boxes or societal expectations, it is always centred around and guided by love.

I have a naturally curious mind, always drawn to the deeper why, why we love the way we do, why we open and close, and what it means to be fully human. That curiosity shapes how I meet life, with intention, presence, and wonder.

Art has always been how I make sense of the world. I’ve expressed through writing and performance art for most of my life, exploring matters of the heart, identity, improv, edges, storytelling, poetry, sensuality, kink, shadow work, chaos, embodiment, dreams, ritual and self.

I see that my greatest teachers have been relationship and heartbreak, death and rebirth, love and eros, revolution and evolution; the moments courage pulled me to my feet, the guidance of the natural world, and the calls of the great unknown.

I believe in the beauty of what’s raw.
I believe all of us is welcome, the good, the bad, the ugly.
And life is about bringing all of it together, into wholeness.

My everyday life is grounded in the simple. I spend time in the garden, reading books, writing, floating in a body of water, loving on animals, and dancing with myself or with the ones I love most.

Originally from Naarm (Melbourne), have spend many years living overseas and I now live in the Northern Rivers on Bundjalung Country,  on a beautiful patch of earth surrounded by nature, wildlife and old-growth forest.

Why I offer this work?

Because I’ve lived it, and still live it.

I know what it’s like to feel disconnected. To be stuck in old patterns, longing for something more, and not knowing how to reach it.

I’ve sat in the rubble of endings. I’ve learned to speak where I once froze. I’ve felt the ache of unmet needs, and the quiet beauty of finally tending to them and feeling the relationship blossom.

I know the richness of transforming heartache and tenderness into gratitude and gifts.

That’s the alchemy I live for, and am devoted to walking with others through. I know the power of building relationships that align with who I am, and how that alignment supports every other part of life to thrive.

I believe how we are in our closest relationships and most intimate spaces reflects how we move through the world.

And when we reshape those inner worlds, it ripples outwards, into our partners, families, our communities, and our collective future.

Education & Influence

I hold a Diploma of Counselling from The Relational Institute of Australia. My work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience.

For over a decade I’ve explored the worlds of intimacy, embodiment, conscious sexuality, kink, and alternative relating. I’ve not only studied these fields but lived and taught within them, continually engaging and asking what it means to be an honest human in relationship.

My therapeutic approach blends:

  • Gestalt Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy,
Attachment Theory, and The Gottman's Method

  •  Somatic Practices and trauma-informed care

  • Adlerian Psychology, Jungian and Archetypal Psychology

I weave in the body’s wisdom, our nervous system intelligence, psychosomatic awareness, and the essential role of emotional expression in health.

Ritual, nature, and shamanic traditions are threads I return to again and again, reminding me that healing moves in cycles, not straight lines.

I am a ISTA Practitioner, and have completed a with a variety of trainings in massage, conscious touch, consent, and embodied safety.

I'm ready when you are...
